Shhh...

I told him, if he doesn't get a haircut, I'm going to turn him into Justin Bieber.

Ayan, Justin Bibe. Shhh..

On taking the photo:
Mr. P: You deleted that right?
Me: Done. *fingers crossed*

Our Christmas Decor Tradition

It's been awhile, aba, Pasko na!

Mr. P and I started our very own Christmas decor tradition since two years ago. We've been collecting Christmas ball ornaments of different states (and countries) we've visited. We have like a dozen now, not all of them are balls kasi some of them can get quite expensive, like the Boston one was at $38, for one ball! Geez. (I'm like, nooo way. I got a bucket of lobster ornament instead).

One of my favorites is the Christmas ball we got from Washington DC. Happy Holidays!

We missed getting Cambodia and Vietnam ornaments, we're thinking of converting the magnets into ornaments:) hee.

After 10 years..

My NFFs when I was 21. My main support system when I first became a "professional". I am very lucky to have such strong and reliable group of friends during my professional formative years. There was stress, yes, as we were part of the elite group who saw Starcom from a 16 people company to becoming a media agency of the year with 50 people strong (that was before I left), now I think their thrice as big!

Starcom was still a baby then, as were we.. now we're all grown ups. We've gained friends, knowledge, experiences (even weight), yet here we are, the four of us. The URC babies- 10 years after. Grabe. This won't be the last.

Happy days!

Our first B & B Visitor

Nandito si Oliver.

I'm very happy that he's my first visitor in our new place. His presence made it warmer.

Oliver is one of the absolutely genuine, good ---> great friends that I have. He's a keeper.

He really makes you feel special. You feel like you're his best friend, even if you know he has tons. He makes time for you. Even if you don't see him for long periods of time, you don't sense that you've lost touch. Parang kahapon lang kayo huling nag kita.

He's not high maintenance. He's independent. He's funny and charming.

Ayan, parang I've wrote down his personal profile.. and for that, any person will be lucky to have him. ;)

Welcome to this side of the world, Oliver!! Please leave a very good review on our hospitality so more friends will come and visit us. Hehe.

Mornings Are Not The Same

Three months ago, my morning is usually the most solemn time of the day. I wake up, stretch, start the day with a smile, positivity, and eagerness to face the day.

Fast forward to today, it's still the same- stretch, smile, positivity, eager.. only thing is, two people now share the bathroom *aargh*. So I wake up earlier, prepare my clothes, prepare the Mr.'s scrubs, prepare our lunch boxes, breakfast (sometimes), etc.. it's no longer as calm as it used to be.

Kaya nga whenever the Mr. has to work early and I just stay home or leave later, I treasure quiet moments alone. Cup of coffee, check my emails, read the news..peace and quiet and open air..

Haay, once and a while it's good, pero cheesy as it sounds, it's great to wake up next to the person who gives you several reasons to smile every day, its ok to surrender the calm. :)

Mr. P's Special Day

I would have made it more of a big deal kasi it's his big four-oh. Kaso it's hard since I'm still settling in, trying to feel my way around. I'm thinking 2011, I'll make it up. Plus, it's his first birthday that we're physically together. In the last three years, we just spent it over skype. Now, I'm haaaappy we're together. Yahoo!!

So, for his special day, I made him liempo (with red egg, onions and tomato as side). What did he do? Ignored it in the first 5 mins and just answered his facebook greetings. *sigh*

Morning Drive Time

Having an eight year age gap is one of the best (sometimes frustrating) aspects of our relationship.

Let's just say when I tell him to play just the way you are, he will automatically think of Billy Joel, not Bruno Mars. Nothing wrong with that, personally, the piano man rocks - pero sana maki-billboard top 10 tayo ng slight, no?;)

So, come to, every morning, (since he drives) he chooses the station; and our music is old school hip hop. Minsan may panaka-nakang hip hop song na alam ko (hip hop hurray, ho, hey, ho!), but most of the time, good luck.

Sigh.

Kape't Pandesal

It's my second cup of coffee at 10:35am. First at 7:00am...

Mr. P is off to work one Saturday every month, and this is when I feel most like a housewife. I think, by default, most wives (or women) would clean their homes when the husband is away.

In a span of three hours, I've loaded the laundry, loaded the dryer, folded the clothes,de-cluttered the apartment, cleaned the kitchen, the stove, washed the dishes, sprayed the bathroom, watered the plants, prepped the chicken for lunch, cut the coupons for the week, swept the floor...

Now I'm here sitting, having my second cup of coffee and pandesal, (flashback to our helper at home, having coffee and pandesal after she did her chores for the morning). Hahaha, the worst part about it is, I'm enjoying it. Wait until it's my 60th Saturday though, malamang sinusumpa ko na to - OR wait til we get our TV, walang chore2! Haha. Oh, gee.. I miss having helpers, sometimes.

Doe-eyed-fear thought: Paano na lang kung maging tatay at nanay na kami? Kaya namin to! Exciting!

Hay, for now, long way to go, Saturday. still have to cook, get some groceries, mop the floor, change the beddings, (take a shower) bago dumating si ser.

Seven Pounds in Three Months?!

But wait, why did I gain this much weight?!! I said I'll keep it easy since I've quit smoking and haven't been going to the gym. Why?!!!

Oh, wait, looking back, here are just some of the healthy foods I've been eating (sanamabits)...

...for that, we ate lettuce wraps for dinner tonight

Couple Cooking 101

They say cooking as a couple is supposed to add to the "bonding" experience.

We tried it, and found out that couple cooking means the wife (ie. me) will do all the labour, while the husband tells you the step-by-step procedure... chop the garlic hun, chop onions, make meatballs, make stock, etc.

Ok, to be fair, he was doing some handyman work while I cook. (We were both in the kitchen though, so bonding time, check). He was working on building me a pseudo door so that the smell from the kitchen when we cook will not reach the living room/bedroom, so sige na nga, guiding me with the procedure is acceptable.

We attempted to cook miswa nga pala from Mr. P's memory. Masarap naman, naging pang pamilya lang ang serving size (I think it's good for 10). Then the miswa is not of good quality kaya medjo doughy.

It was a good start, kain na!

Being Married Series

This may be a first of a series of how being married is like, and how things are changing for me.

I'm not complaining. It's the truth. It can sometimes be frustrating, but it sure is amusing (for me). I'm getting the hang of this marriage life, bit by bit.

So, today, I was scheduled to go to the salon for a Brazilian blow-out hair straightening service (brazilian straightening is different from brazilian wax, it's straightening for your crown of hair, not straightening your.. oh, I won't go there.)

Anyway, this Brazilian-straightening-of-your-crown-hair thing is a bit expensive, $290! (without tip in-fact, and I almost felt faint.)

The thing is, if I were single, I wouldn't even think about it. I would justify the salon visit as a reward (as most women would). I deserve it, I'm working hard, and I need to pamper myself once in awhile. Now, I have to think twice, even if I was already inside the parlor...

I did back track, thinking we were doing the grocery today.. stupid food, who needs to eat anyway?

Needless to say, I did't get the straightening thingy, even if my hair looks like this:

Yaks.

Today at Macy's

It's the one day sale at Macy's today... \m/ \m/ \m/ as my niece would say (or type).

So, we made a dash first thing today to try and grab the items that we saw on the catalogue. Hmm, no clothes shopping (or jewelry shopping, as I've been hinting to Mr. P. medjo deadma si papa P, eh -- but that's another story).

Anyway, we shopped for kitchen stuff, (as I am trying to be a diva-ette in the cusina;). I was eye-ing the 12 pc. Pyrex set, Calphalon non-stick grill pan, Magic bullet, Crock-pot and a convection, rotisserie oven. Medjo madami ng slight, but it was 60%++ off so we took advantage of the savings, right?

Sa dami, Mrs. P was looking for a cart, calls the attendant and asks, "Where are your carts?", and he looked at me like I was jologs (or ghetto in the US), and said, "We don't have carts here"... Mrs. P thought balloon- nag-mamaganda, hindi naman maganda (mind you, lalaki ito ha), but I ended up saying, "So, how do I carry all of these then?" Sabay nag tutu-turo.

Ending, he carried our stuff all the way to the register. Thought balloon #2, ayan, ang ganda mo kasi, wala palang cart ha? Buhatin mo yan ngayon.

Hay simple victories..

It's Been Eleven Weeks...

So far, I have been adjusting.

...adjust to being married
...adjust to being a wife
...adjust to living in the US
...adjust to not having a job
...adjust to quitting smoking

There are so many milestones that I'm thankful for

Mr. Pavia said it seems like I haven't put my *rockin' equestrian* boots on the ground, and it seems like I'm still on a holiday in the US.

He's right. Not until I gain 30 pounds, get stressed from work, cut a driver on the freeway (or be cut by a stupid driver on the freeway), I am still on vacay mode.

Can't complain!
